Ammonium nitrite is a white crystalline compound with the chemical formula NH4NO2. It is used as a reagent in analytical chemistry and in the manufacture of diazo compounds. Ammonium nitrite is highly unstable and can decompose explosively upon heating. Proper handling, storage, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE) are essential to ensure safety when working with this compound.
