CHLORONAPHTHALENE Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics
Chloronaphthalene, also known as monochloronaphthalene or C10H7Cl, is a colorless to pale yellow aromatic liquid with a mild odor. It is used as a solvent and as an intermediate in the manufacture of dyes, pesticides, and specialty chemicals. Although considered relatively low in acute toxicity, chloronaphthalene may cause skin and respiratory irritation. When selecting O-rings, rubber seals, gaskets, and plastic components, compatibility with aromatic chlorinated compounds must be carefully evaluated to prevent swelling or degradation. Proper handling and storage support safe operation and long-term rubber performance.
