CHLOROPHENOL Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics
Chlorophenol, also known as monochlorophenol or chlorinated phenol, is a colorless to pale yellow liquid with the chemical formula C6H5ClO that is used as an intermediate in the manufacture of pesticides, disinfectants, and other specialty chemicals. Although considered relatively low in acute toxicity, it can still irritate skin and the respiratory tract. When evaluating compatibility, O-rings, rubber seals, gaskets, and plastic components should be carefully selected, as chlorophenol may cause swelling or degradation in certain rubber materials.
