CYMENE Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Cymene, also known as p-cymene, para-cymene, or isopropyltoluene, is a colorless aromatic hydrocarbon with the formula C10H14 and a mild odor. It is commonly used as a solvent and as an intermediate in chemical manufacturing. Although considered relatively low in toxicity, exposure may cause skin and respiratory irritation. In systems containing cymene, compatibility with O-rings, rubber seals, gaskets, and plastic materials should be assessed to prevent swelling or degradation. Proper storage, safe handling, and appropriate PPE are recommended.
