DIMETHYL DISULFIDE Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics
Dimethyl disulfide, also known as DMDS and identified by the formula C2H6S2, is a colorless sulfur containing liquid with a strong odor used as a solvent and chemical intermediate. In processing environments, it may contact O-rings, rubber seals, gaskets, and plastic components, so material compatibility should be evaluated to reduce the risk of swelling or deterioration. Although generally considered relatively low in acute toxicity, exposure can cause skin and respiratory irritation. Proper storage, controlled handling, and appropriate PPE are recommended.
