DIMETHYLANILINE Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics
Dimethylaniline, also known as N,N-dimethylaniline with the formula C8H11N, is a colorless to pale yellow aromatic amine used as an intermediate in the manufacture of dyes, pharmaceuticals, and other specialty chemicals. In processing systems, contact with this solvent can affect O-rings, rubber seals, gaskets, and certain plastic components, making compatibility evaluation important to reduce swelling or material degradation. Although considered relatively low in acute toxicity, exposure may cause skin and respiratory irritation. Proper storage, careful handling, and appropriate PPE are recommended.
