Ethyl acetate, also called acetic acid ethyl ester or ethyl ethanoate with the formula C4H8O2, is a colorless solvent with a sweet fruity odor widely used in coatings, adhesives, inks, and chemical manufacturing. Because of its strong solvent properties, compatibility with O-rings, rubber seals, gaskets, and plastic components should be evaluated to reduce the risk of swelling or material degradation. Ethyl acetate is highly flammable and may cause skin and respiratory irritation. Proper storage, safe handling practices, ventilation, and appropriate PPE are recommended.
