PHOSPHORIC ACID CONCENTRATED TO 158°F Chemical compatibility with O-rings, rubbers, & plastics

Concentrated phosphoric acid heated to approximately 158°F (70°C), commonly represented by the formula H3PO4, is used in industrial processes requiring increased chemical reactivity. Elevated temperature improves its effectiveness in metal cleaning, surface etching, and chemical synthesis operations. In equipment where hot phosphoric acid may contact O-rings, rubber seals, gaskets, and plastic components, compatibility should be evaluated to prevent softening or degradation of sealing materials. Because heated acids increase the risk of burns and fumes, proper storage, ventilation, safe handling procedures, and appropriate PPE are essential.
