Canyon’s EP40BK01 is a 40 Shore A black EPDM compound that is sulfur cured and engineered as a soft, cost-effective sealing material for applications requiring high flexibility and environmental resistance. Its low durometer allows excellent conformability under low sealing loads while maintaining good heat resistance, abrasion resistance, and low compression set. With a service temperature range of -55°C to 130°C (-67°F to 266°F), EP40BK01 performs reliably in outdoor and general industrial environments where weathering and ozone exposure are concerns. The compound’s high elongation and balanced tensile strength support dependable sealing in static and light dynamic applications. Compare to Parker E1100-50.

EP40BK01 meets ASTM D2000 M2BA407 requirements and is commonly used in industrial equipment, enclosures, and general-purpose sealing applications where softness, durability, and affordability are key selection factors. Its sulfur-cured formulation provides stable performance without sacrificing flexibility, making it a practical alternative to higher-durometer EPDM grades. This material is often selected where vibration, movement, or uneven mating surfaces require a softer elastomer to maintain sealing integrity.
