EP60BK01 is a 60 shore A black sulfur-cured EPDM compound designed as a cost-effective sealing material for applications requiring excellent weathering and environmental resistance. Its lower durometer provides improved flexibility and conformability, making it ideal for O-rings and gaskets used in outdoor equipment, water systems, HVAC components, and general industrial applications. The material offers good heat and abrasion resistance, low compression set, and maintains reliable performance across a service temperature range of -55°C to 130°C. EP60BK01 meets ASTM D2000 M2BA610A14 B13 EA14 F19 requirements and can be compared to Parker E1157-60 when evaluating equivalent general purpose EPDM materials.
EPDM, or ethylene propylene diene monomer rubber, is widely used in O-rings and gaskets because of its outstanding resistance to ozone, UV exposure, weathering, water, steam, and many polar fluids. These materials are commonly selected for potable water systems, outdoor equipment, automotive cooling systems, and industrial sealing applications where long-term environmental durability is essential. EPDM compounds also provide excellent flexibility at low temperatures and good resistance to aging, making them a dependable choice for static sealing applications. While highly effective in water- and weather-related environments, EPDM is generally not recommended for petroleum oils, fuels, or hydrocarbon-based fluids, making proper material selection important.
