Greene Tweed’s Chemraz® 505 is a 75 Shore A black perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) widely recognized as a universal sealing compound for chemically aggressive and mixed-media environments. It offers broad chemical compatibility across acids, caustics, aldehydes, esters, ethers, aromatics, hot water, steam, amines, alcohols, ketones, and common solvents such as DMF, THF, and MTBE. With a service temperature range of -30°C to 230°C (-22°F to 446°F), Chemraz® 505 performs reliably in subzero conditions as well as elevated-temperature process systems. Its relatively low compression set supports sealing integrity through temperature and pressure cycling, shaft misalignment, and long-term service.

 

Chemraz® 505 is commonly used in O-rings, gaskets, and custom shapes for mechanical seals, valves, pump housings, reactors, compressors, mixers, sampling and metering equipment, and instrumentation. It is well suited for chemical processing plants, multisubstance facilities, and applications involving frequent media changes. This perfluoroelastomer formulation combines mechanical strength, low-temperature capability, and broad chemical resistance for dependable performance in harsh industrial environments.
