PT55WH05 is a 55 shore D white virgin PTFE compound engineered for high purity applications requiring exceptional chemical resistance and regulatory compliance. Manufactured from 100% virgin PTFE, this material is ideal for backup rings, spring energized seals, semiconductor components, and other precision sealing components used with O-rings and gaskets in aggressive chemical environments. It offers outstanding resistance to solvents such as MEK, DMF, and acetone, along with extremely low gas permeability, self-lubricating properties, and a broad service temperature range of -200°C to 260°C. PT55WH05 meets FDA 21 CFR 177.1550, USP Class VI, NSF 61, KTW, WRAS, and multiple European food contact regulations, making it an excellent choice for medical, food processing, water treatment, and semiconductor applications.
PTFE, commonly known as Teflon®, is a high performance fluoropolymer widely used for sealing components, backup rings, bearing surfaces, and spring energized seals where conventional elastomers cannot withstand the operating environment. Unlike elastomeric materials, PTFE is rigid, exhibits extremely low friction, and provides near universal chemical resistance across a broad range of acids, solvents, and process chemicals. It is commonly used in chemical processing, semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceutical equipment, and fluid handling systems where purity, low permeability, and long-term stability are essential. PTFE is often used alongside O-rings and gaskets as a support or sealing component to improve pressure resistance and overall sealing performance.
