VT80BK40 is an 80 shore A black FKM Type GFLT compound engineered for demanding sealing environments that require both enhanced chemical resistance and improved low temperature flexibility. This material is ideal for O-rings and gaskets exposed to steam, acids, aromatic hydrocarbons, and aggressive industrial media, while maintaining strong performance in fuels and oils. Its higher durometer improves extrusion resistance and durability in higher pressure applications, while still providing reliable sealing down to -37°C, with static capability to -40°C. VT80BK40 meets ASTM D2000 M7HK810 requirements and can be compared to Parker V1163-75 when evaluating equivalent GFLT-type FKM materials.

 

FKM, commonly referred to as Viton®, is a high performance fluoroelastomer widely used in O-rings and gaskets where resistance to heat, fuels, and harsh chemicals is essential. GFLT-type FKM compounds are advanced formulations designed to extend both low temperature performance and chemical compatibility beyond standard and GLT grades. These materials are commonly used in oil and gas, chemical processing, and aerospace applications where thermal cycling and exposure to aggressive media are present. While highly versatile, FKM materials are generally not recommended for certain polar solvents or extreme steam conditions beyond their limits, making proper material selection critical.
