VT90BK20 is a 90 shore A black FKM Type GF compound engineered for demanding sealing environments where high hardness and enhanced chemical resistance are required. This material offers improved compatibility with steam, acids, and aromatic hydrocarbons compared to standard FKM, making it ideal for O-rings and gaskets used in chemical processing, oil and gas, and high pressure industrial systems. Its high durometer improves extrusion resistance under load while maintaining excellent heat stability and long-term durability against weathering and aging. With a service temperature range of -16°C to 225°C, VT90BK20 meets ASTM D2000 M2HK910 requirements and can be compared to Parker compounds such as V0709-90 and VA153-90 for equivalent performance.
FKM, commonly referred to as Viton®, is a high performance fluoroelastomer widely used in O-rings and gaskets where resistance to heat, fuels, and aggressive chemicals is essential. GF-type FKM materials are formulated to provide improved resistance to steam, acids, and harsh chemical environments beyond standard grades. Higher durometer variants like 90A are commonly selected for applications requiring increased extrusion resistance and mechanical strength under pressure. While highly versatile, FKM materials are generally not recommended for certain polar solvents or extreme steam conditions beyond their limits, making proper material selection important.
