Aroclor 1260, also known as PCB-1260 or polychlorinated biphenyl 1260, is a high-chlorine PCB mixture historically used in transformers, capacitors, hydraulic fluids, and as a plasticizer in industrial applications. As a polychlorinated biphenyl compound, Aroclor 1260 is chemically stable and highly persistent in the environment. In chemical compatibility evaluations, PCB oils such as Aroclor 1260 should be assessed carefully with rubber O-rings and gaskets, as chlorinated fluids may cause swelling or long-term degradation in certain rubber materials.
