C1278-80 Datasheet
Parker, C1278-80 NEO, 80A, Black, Super Neoprene, Low Compression Set
Parker’s C1278-80 is an 80 Shore A black Neoprene (Chloroprene, CR) compound engineered for applications requiring higher hardness, controlled compression set, and dependable environmental resistance. With a service temperature range of -35°F to 225°F, it performs reliably in contact with paraffin-based mineral oils with low DPI, silicone oils and greases, water and water-based fluids at lower temperatures, refrigerants, ammonia, and carbon dioxide. Compared to nitrile, this compound offers improved resistance to ozone, weathering, and aging, making it suitable for outdoor, refrigeration, and industrial environments. The higher durometer provides enhanced extrusion resistance for static and moderate dynamic sealing conditions.
C1278-80 meets ASTM D2000 M2BC810 requirements and has limited compatibility with naphthenic mineral oils such as IRM 902 and IRM 903 and with glycol-based brake fluids. It is not recommended for aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, or polar solvents such as ketones, esters, and ethers. Canyon Components offers equivalent chloroprene materials that match or exceed the performance of Parker C1278-80 for higher-durometer neoprene sealing applications.
