Parker’s VG109-90 is a 90 Shore A black fluorocarbon (FKM) compound engineered for high-strength sealing applications that require excellent resistance to oils, fuels, and aggressive chemical media. With a service temperature range of -50°F to 400°F, it maintains sealing integrity across wide thermal swings while offering strong compatibility with mineral oils, greases, aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, silicone oils, nonflammable hydraulic fluids, and chlorinated hydrocarbons. The compound also delivers excellent resistance to ozone, weathering, and oxidative aging, making it suitable for harsh industrial, oil and gas, and high-vacuum environments. Its high durometer improves extrusion resistance and dimensional stability under pressure.
VG109-90 has been tested to ISO 23936-2 for rapid gas decompression (RGD), making it well suited for oil and gas applications involving pressure cycling and aggressive service conditions. With a tensile strength of approximately 2,348 psi and elongation around 115 percent, it provides a strong balance of durability and resilience. It is not recommended for glycol-based brake fluids, amines, alkalis, superheated steam, or low molecular weight organic acids.
