Canyon’s EP70BK04 is a 70 Shore A black EPDM compound that is peroxide cured and engineered for metal-detectable, FDA-compliant sealing in food manufacturing and sanitary processing applications. Designed to meet FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 requirements, this material supports contamination control programs by allowing detection of seal fragments in food production environments. With a service temperature range of -57°C to 150°C (-70°F to 300°F), EP70BK04 delivers reliable performance in hot water, cleaning, and washdown conditions while maintaining good abrasion resistance and low compression set. Its peroxide-cured formulation enhances heat resistance, aging stability, and long-term sealing integrity compared to standard sulfur-cured EPDM grades.

 

EP70BK04 meets ASTM D2000 M2DA710 requirements and is commonly used in food processing equipment, conveyors, pumps, and sanitary sealing locations where metal detectability and regulatory compliance are critical.
