Parker, N1470-70 NBR, 70A, Black, General Purpose, X-rings
Parker’s N1470-70 is a 70 Shore A black nitrile rubber (NBR) compound formulated as a general-purpose sealing material and commonly used in X-rings as well as standard O-rings and gaskets. Designed to meet ASTM D2000 M2BG714 requirements, it provides dependable sealing performance across a service temperature range of -40°F to 225°F while maintaining good flexibility and compression set resistance. This compound is well suited for petroleum-based oils and fuels, making it a practical choice for hydraulic, pneumatic, and general industrial sealing applications. Its balanced mechanical properties and low-temperature capability support consistent performance in both static and moderate dynamic sealing environments.
N1470-70 is frequently selected for X-ring applications where reduced friction, improved sealing stability, and longer service life are desired compared to traditional O-ring designs. It is also used in pumps, valves, cylinders, and general machinery exposed to oils and moderate temperature cycling. As with standard NBR materials, it is not recommended for aromatic fuels, strong acids, glycols, ozone exposure, or polar solvents. Canyon Components offers equivalent nitrile materials designed to match the performance characteristics of Parker N1470-70 for O-rings, X-rings, and general-purpose sealing applications.
