S1138-70 Datasheet

Parker S1138-70 is a 70 shore A rust-colored silicone (VMQ) compound formulated for FDA and USP Class VI compliant sealing applications in sanitary and regulated environments. This material is well suited for O-rings and gaskets used in food processing, medical devices, and pharmaceutical systems where cleanliness and biocompatibility are critical. It offers excellent performance in dry heat and low temperature conditions, along with good resistance to ozone, weathering, and aging, ensuring long-term durability. With a typical service temperature range of approximately -60°F to 400°F, S1138-70 provides reliable sealing in demanding high purity applications.

 

Silicone rubber, commonly referred to as VMQ, is widely used in O-rings and gaskets due to its broad temperature range and excellent environmental resistance. High purity silicone compounds that meet FDA and USP standards are specifically designed for use in medical, pharmaceutical, and food industries where material safety and consistency are required. These materials maintain flexibility at low temperatures while providing stable performance at elevated temperatures, making them ideal for thermal cycling applications. While highly versatile, silicone compounds are generally not recommended for ketones, strong acids, or certain fluid environments, making proper material selection essential.
