SI40TR20 Datasheet
SI40TR20, SIL, PVMQ, Translucent, ULT, 40A
SI40TR20 is a 40 shore A translucent PVMQ silicone compound engineered for ultra low temperature sealing where extreme flexibility is required. This material remains elastic down to -108°C, making it ideal for O-rings and gaskets used in cryogenic, aerospace, and cold environment industrial applications. Its low durometer allows for excellent conformability in low pressure systems, while still providing good resistance to ozone, detergents, salt water, and vegetable and animal oils. SI40TR20 meets ASTM D2000 M2GE405 requirements and delivers reliable performance in applications where standard elastomers would become brittle and fail.
PVMQ, or fluorosilicone rubber, is a specialized elastomer that combines the low temperature flexibility of silicone with improved resistance to fuels, oils, and certain solvents. These materials are widely used in O-rings and gaskets where both chemical exposure and extreme temperature conditions are present. Compared to standard silicone, PVMQ offers enhanced fuel compatibility while maintaining excellent performance in cold environments, making it a preferred choice for aerospace, automotive, and industrial sealing applications. While highly versatile, it may not match FKM in high temperature chemical resistance, so proper material selection is essential.
