VT75BK58 is a 75 shore A black FKM Type XLT compound engineered to meet AMS 7379 requirements while delivering exceptional low temperature performance and broad chemical resistance. This material is ideal for O-rings and gaskets used in aerospace, oil and gas, and industrial systems where sealing integrity must be maintained in extreme cold and chemically aggressive environments. It offers excellent resistance to steam, acids, aromatic hydrocarbons, fuels, and weathering, while maintaining reliable performance across a service temperature range of -51°C to 225°C. With a TR-10 of approximately -42°F and a glass transition temperature of -40°F, VT75BK58 provides outstanding low temperature resilience and can be compared to other AMS 7379 FKM materials for equivalent aerospace sealing applications.
FKM, commonly referred to as Viton®, is a high performance fluoroelastomer widely used in O-rings and gaskets where resistance to heat, fuels, oils, and aggressive chemicals is essential. XLT-type FKM compounds are advanced formulations developed to significantly improve low temperature flexibility while maintaining the excellent chemical resistance and thermal stability expected from fluorocarbon elastomers. These materials are commonly used in aerospace, automotive, oil and gas, and industrial applications where thermal cycling and harsh chemical exposure occur simultaneously. While highly versatile, FKM materials are generally not recommended for certain polar solvents or prolonged exposure to hot water and steam beyond their design limits, making proper material selection essential.
