Parker VW173-75 is a 75 shore A green FKM compound developed for automotive sealing applications requiring reliable chemical resistance and thermal stability. This material performs well in O-rings and gaskets exposed to petroleum, mineral, and vegetable oils, along with aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, making it suitable for fuel systems, engine components, and fluid handling equipment. It also offers strong resistance to ozone, weathering, and aging, ensuring long-term durability in demanding automotive environments. With a typical service temperature range of approximately -15°F to 400°F, VW173-75 can be compared to other general purpose FKM compounds when evaluating equivalent materials.
FKM, commonly referred to as Viton®, is a high performance fluoroelastomer widely used in O-rings and gaskets where resistance to fuels, oils, and elevated temperatures is essential.
