Parker’s C0557-70 is a 70 Shore A black Neoprene (Chloroprene, CR) compound developed for general-purpose sealing applications requiring a balance of oil resistance, environmental durability, and mechanical stability. With a service temperature range of -35°F to 250°F, it performs reliably in contact with paraffin-based mineral oils, silicone oils and greases, water and water-based fluids at lower temperatures, refrigerants, ammonia, and carbon dioxide. Compared to nitrile, this compound provides improved resistance to ozone, weathering, and aging, supporting longer service life in outdoor and industrial environments. Its medium durometer offers a practical combination of flexibility and extrusion resistance for both static and moderate dynamic sealing conditions.
C0557-70 meets ASTM D2000 M3BC710 requirements and is commonly used in industrial, refrigeration, and general equipment sealing applications. It has limited compatibility with naphthenic mineral oils such as IRM 902 and IRM 903 and with glycol-based brake fluids. This compound is not recommended for aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, or polar solvents such as ketones, esters, and ethers. Canyon Components offers equivalent chloroprene materials that match or exceed the performance of Parker C0557-70 for oil, refrigerant, and environmentally exposed sealing applications.
