Parker’s E1244-70 is a 70 Shore A black EPDM compound that is internally lubricated and NSF 61 certified for potable water and sanitary sealing applications. Designed to meet demanding water and chemical exposure requirements, it delivers reliable sealing performance across a service temperature range of -70°F to 250°F while maintaining good compression set resistance. The compound performs well in hot water and steam service and is compatible with glycol-based brake fluids, phosphate-ester hydraulic fluids, silicone oils and greases, many organic and inorganic acids, cleaning agents, and sodium and potassium alkalis. Its inherent resistance to ozone, aging, and weathering supports long-term durability in municipal water, plumbing, and industrial environments.
E1244-70 is commonly used in potable water systems, sanitary fluid handling equipment, and applications where low installation friction and regulatory compliance are critical. The internal lubrication helps reduce installation damage and improves assembly consistency in both static and dynamic seals. It is not recommended for use with mineral oil products such as oils, greases, or fuels. Canyon Components offers equivalent EPDM materials designed to meet similar NSF 61, chloramine-resistant, and potable water sealing requirements.
