Parker’s E1549-70 is a 70 Shore A black EPDM compound engineered for potable water, sanitary, and regulatory-driven sealing applications requiring broad chemical resistance and low-temperature flexibility. Designed to meet ASTM D2000 M3DA714 requirements, it is compliant with FDA 21 CFR 177.2600 and certified to NSF 61, with additional approvals including WRAS and KTW for drinking water use. With a service temperature range of -70°F to 250°F and steam capability up to 400°F, E1549-70 performs reliably in hot water, steam, and cleaning environments while maintaining elasticity and low compression set. Its formulation provides excellent resistance to glycol-based brake fluids, silicone brake fluids, many organic and inorganic acids, alkalis, polar solvents, ozone, aging, and weathering.
E1549-70 is commonly used in municipal water systems, food and beverage equipment, pharmaceutical processing, and sanitary fluid handling applications where compliance, cleanliness, and durability are critical. It is not recommended for use with mineral oil products such as oils, greases, or fuels. This EPDM compound offers dependable long-term sealing performance in regulated environments exposed to water-based and polar media. Canyon Components offers equivalent EPDM materials designed to meet similar FDA, NSF 61, WRAS, and KTW requirements for potable water and sanitary sealing applications.
