DuPont™ Kalrez® 4079 (KP4079) is a 75 Shore A black perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) designed as a true general-purpose sealing material for chemically aggressive, high-temperature environments. Carbon black filled for improved mechanical strength, it offers excellent resistance to a wide range of organic and inorganic chemicals, including acids, alkalis, oils, solvents, alcohols, esters, ketones, and ethers, while maintaining low and stable compression set at elevated temperatures. Kalrez® 4079 has a maximum continuous service temperature of 315°C (599°F), with short excursions to higher temperatures possible, and demonstrates outstanding hot air aging and resistance to thermal cycling. Its relatively low modulus also aids installation and assembly compared to higher-stiffness FFKM grades.
Kalrez® 4079 is widely used for O-rings, gaskets, diaphragms, seals, and custom molded parts across chemical processing, semiconductor support systems, aerospace, and general industrial applications, covering the majority of non-steam FFKM use cases. It is not recommended for hot water or steam service, high-temperature aliphatic amines, or exposure to ethylene oxide or propylene oxide. For applications requiring steam or amine resistance, other FFKM grades are typically selected.
