DuPont™ Kalrez® Spectrum™ 7090 (KP7090) is a 90 Shore A black perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) engineered for high-temperature sealing applications that require elevated hardness, high modulus, and exceptional extrusion resistance. Designed for demanding chemical and hydrocarbon processing environments, it offers outstanding mechanical strength, excellent seal force retention, and strong resistance to temperature cycling effects. Kalrez® 7090 supports a maximum continuous service temperature of 325°C (617°F), with short excursions to higher temperatures possible, while maintaining low compression set and dimensional stability. Its lower coefficient of thermal expansion compared to many other FFKM materials helps simplify upgrades from FKM to FFKM by reducing the need for significant gland redesign.
Kalrez® Spectrum™ 7090 is commonly used in O-rings, gaskets, and custom sealing components for mechanical seals, valves, flanges, and dynamic sealing locations where high pressure, high temperature, and extrusion resistance are critical. The combination of high hardness and chemical resistance makes it well suited for static and dynamic applications exposed to aggressive media and thermal extremes. This material is often selected when standard FFKM grades lack sufficient stiffness or seal force retention.
