DuPont™ Kalrez® 8475 (KP8475) is a white perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) with a nominal hardness of 70 Shore A, specifically developed for semiconductor oxidation and diffusion applications where ultra-low outgassing and long-term thermal stability are critical. This material exhibits very low outgassing at elevated temperatures and excellent resistance to dry gas process environments, supporting consistent sealing performance in high-purity vacuum systems. Kalrez® 8475 delivers improved compression set behavior and strong seal force retention, with a recommended maximum service temperature of 300°C (572°F). Ultrapure post-cleaning and packaging are standard, making it well suited for contamination-sensitive processes.

 

Kalrez® 8475 is commonly used for O-rings and gaskets in quartz tube seals, gas feedthroughs, bell jars, plenums, and other low-stress, low sealing force applications found in oxidation and diffusion furnaces. Its mechanical properties favor static sealing locations where cleanliness, low extractables, and thermal endurance are prioritized over high extrusion resistance. This compound is selected when reduced outgassing and stable performance at sustained high temperatures directly impact process yield.
