Parker’s LM159-70 is a 70 Shore A blue fluorosilicone (FVMQ) compound widely regarded as a benchmark material for low-temperature fuel sealing applications. Designed for reliable performance from -100°F to 350°F (-73°C to 177°C), it maintains elasticity and sealing force in extreme cold while remaining stable at elevated temperatures. The fluorosilicone polymer combines a silicone backbone for low-temperature flexibility with fluorinated side chains that provide excellent resistance to petroleum-based fuels, oils, and greases. This balance makes LM159-70 especially well suited for modern automotive and aerospace fuel systems that experience wide thermal cycling.

LM159-70 is commonly used for O-rings and gaskets in fuel quick disconnects, fuel and air sensors, and systems handling gasoline, E85, diesel, biodiesel, and ULSD. Improvements in rebound resilience compared to earlier fluorosilicone generations support more reliable installation and automated assembly, reducing the risk of seal damage. While fluorosilicones are generally better suited for static or lightly dynamic applications, LM159-70 remains a preferred choice where low-temperature fuel compatibility is the primary requirement. Canyon Components offers equivalent fluorosilicone materials designed to match the low-temperature performance, fuel resistance, and assembly characteristics of Parker LM159-70 for automotive and aerospace sealing applications.
