Parker’s N1444-90 is a 90 Shore A black nitrile rubber (NBR) compound specifically intended for use as Parbak style back-up rings where high hardness and extrusion resistance are required. Qualified to ASTM D2000 M3CH910, it delivers stable performance across a service temperature range of -30°F to 250°F while maintaining dimensional integrity under pressure. This compound is compatible with petroleum-based oils, water up to 212°F, salt and alkali solutions, and weak acids, making it suitable for hydraulic and industrial fluid systems that rely on back-up rings to support primary O-ring seals. Its high durometer formulation is optimized for load-bearing support rather than primary dynamic sealing.

 

N1444-90 is commonly used exclusively as Parbak or back-up ring material in hydraulic cylinders, valves, pumps, and pressure-containing assemblies where extrusion control is critical. It is not recommended for aromatic fuels, strong acids, glycols, ozone exposure, or polar solvents. This compound provides a reliable, specification-backed solution for preventing O-ring extrusion in high-pressure applications.
