Parker’s N1490-90 is a 90 Shore A black nitrile rubber (NBR) compound designed as a general-purpose, high-hardness sealing material for applications requiring strong extrusion resistance and dimensional stability. Qualified to ASTM D2000 M7BG910, it delivers reliable sealing performance across a service temperature range of -30°F to 250°F while maintaining good compression set control under sustained load. This compound is compatible with petroleum-based oils, water up to 212°F, salt and alkali solutions, and weak acids, making it suitable for hydraulic and industrial fluid systems. Its high durometer formulation supports dependable performance in static and moderate dynamic O-ring and gasket applications where softer nitrile materials may deform.
N1490-90 is commonly used for O-rings and gaskets in pumps, valves, cylinders, and general machinery where oil resistance and mechanical robustness are required. It is not recommended for aromatic fuels, strong acids, glycols, ozone exposure, or polar solvents. This compound provides a cost-effective solution when higher hardness and general-purpose oil compatibility are the primary design requirements.
