Parker S0802-40 is a 40 shore A white VMQ silicone compound that is FDA compliant and designed for soft, highly flexible sealing applications. This material meets ASTM D2000 M2GE405 requirements and provides excellent performance in O-rings and gaskets exposed to dry heat, low temperature conditions, and environmental factors such as ozone, weathering, and aging. Its low durometer allows for superior conformability in low pressure systems and delicate sealing environments, while still offering moderate resistance to water and select petroleum-based oils. With a typical service temperature range of approximately -60°F to 400°F, S0802-40 is well suited for food processing, medical, and industrial applications requiring flexible, FDA compliant silicone seals.

 

Silicone rubber, commonly referred to as VMQ, is widely used in O-rings and gaskets due to its exceptional temperature range and environmental resistance. Low durometer silicone materials like 40A are particularly effective in applications requiring high flexibility, gentle sealing force, and adaptability to irregular sealing surfaces. These materials are commonly used in food processing, medical devices, and general industrial applications where cleanliness, ozone resistance, and long service life are critical. While highly versatile, silicone compounds are generally not recommended for ketones, strong acids, or certain fluid environments, making proper material selection essential.
