Parker S0899-50 is a 50 shore A rust-colored VMQ silicone compound qualified to ZZ-R-765B Class 1a, 1b, 2a, and 2b Grade 50 specifications, offering reliable performance in both low and moderate temperature environments. This material is well suited for O-rings and gaskets used in applications involving dry heat, fire-resistant hydraulic fluids, and moderate exposure to petroleum oils and water. Its lower durometer improves flexibility and sealing in low pressure systems, while also providing strong resistance to ozone, weathering, and aging. With a typical service temperature range of approximately -103°F to 400°F, S0899-50 can be compared to other military-grade silicone materials when evaluating equivalent sealing solutions.

Silicone rubber, commonly referred to as VMQ, is widely used in O-rings and gaskets due to its broad temperature range and excellent environmental resistance. Lower durometer silicone materials like 50A are particularly effective in applications requiring flexibility and conformability, especially in low temperature or low pressure conditions. These materials are commonly used in aerospace, industrial, and environmental sealing applications where resistance to ozone, weathering, and long-term aging is essential. While highly versatile, silicone compounds are generally not recommended for ketones, strong acids, or certain fluid environments, making proper material selection important.
