Parker’s V0986-50 is a 50 Shore A black fluorocarbon (FKM) compound designed for sealing applications requiring excellent resistance to oils, fuels, and aggressive chemical environments. With a service temperature range of -150°F to 400°F, it provides strong performance in contact with petroleum, mineral, and vegetable oils, silicone fluids, aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, and ozone-exposed environments. The material’s inherent stability and low compression set (29.4% after 70 hours at 392°F) make it suitable for both static and dynamic seals in high-vacuum and high-temperature conditions. Its weathering and oxidation resistance contribute to long service life in harsh industrial applications.

 

V0986-50 is not recommended for use with hot water, steam, brake fluids, amines, ketones, or low molecular weight esters and ethers. This compound provides a balance of flexibility, chemical durability, and thermal resistance ideal for general-purpose O-rings and gaskets used in oilfield, automotive, and chemical processing systems.
