Parker VB185-70 is a 70 shore A black FKM compound formulated for applications requiring strong acid resistance and reliable performance in steam and chemically aggressive environments. This material offers excellent compatibility with oils, fuels, and a wide range of hydrocarbons, along with good resistance to nonflammable hydraulic fluids and high vacuum conditions. It also provides strong resistance to ozone, weathering, and aging, making it a dependable choice for O-rings and gaskets used in industrial processing, chemical handling, and sealing systems exposed to elevated temperatures. With a service temperature range of approximately -15°F to 400°F, VB185-70 meets ASTM D2000 M2HK707 requirements and can be compared to other acid-resistant FKM compounds when evaluating equivalent materials.

 

FKM, commonly referred to as Viton®, is a high performance fluoroelastomer widely used in O-rings and gaskets where resistance to heat, fuels, and aggressive chemicals is essential. Specialized grades such as acid-resistant FKM compounds are engineered to perform in harsher chemical environments than standard FKM, including exposure to certain acids and steam conditions.
