VT90BK11 is a 90 shore A black FKM Type A compound engineered for anti explosive decompression performance in high pressure sealing environments. This material is tested to NORSOK M-710 standards, making it well suited for O-rings and gaskets used in oil and gas applications such as valves, wellhead equipment, and pressure control systems. Its high durometer enhances extrusion resistance while maintaining excellent chemical compatibility with fuels, oils, and aggressive media, along with strong resistance to weathering and aging. With a service temperature range of -26°C to 225°C, VT90BK11 meets ASTM D2000 M2HK910 requirements and can be compared to Parker compounds such as V0709-90 and VA153-90 when evaluating equivalent AED-resistant FKM materials.
FKM, commonly referred to as Viton®, is a high performance fluoroelastomer widely used in O-rings and gaskets where resistance to heat, chemicals, and fuels is critical. AED-resistant FKM compounds are specifically formulated to withstand rapid gas decompression without cracking or failure, making them essential for high pressure oil and gas applications. Type A FKM materials provide a balanced combination of chemical resistance, thermal stability, and cost effectiveness, while higher durometer grades improve resistance to extrusion under load. While highly versatile, FKM materials are generally not recommended for hot water, steam, or certain polar solvents, making proper material selection critical for long-term sealing performance.
