AED NORSOK M710

Anti-Explosive Decompression

ORing cut reference

VT90BK24 is a 90 shore A black FKM Type GF compound engineered for anti explosive decompression performance in harsh chemical and high pressure environments. This material passes NORSOK M-710 AED testing, making it ideal for O-rings and gaskets used in oil and gas applications such as valves, wellhead equipment, and downhole systems. It provides improved resistance to steam, acids, and aromatic hydrocarbons compared to standard FKM, while its high durometer enhances extrusion resistance under pressure. With a service temperature range of -16°C to 225°C, VT90BK24 meets ASTM D2000 M2HK914 requirements and delivers reliable performance in demanding sealing applications.

FKM, commonly referred to as Viton®, is a high performance fluoroelastomer widely used in O-rings and gaskets where resistance to heat, fuels, and aggressive chemicals is essential. GF-type FKM materials are formulated to improve resistance to steam, acids, and harsh chemical environments, while AED-resistant formulations are designed to withstand rapid gas decompression without cracking or failure. These materials are commonly used in oil and gas, chemical processing, and industrial systems where high pressure, chemical exposure, and thermal stability are critical. While highly versatile, FKM materials are generally not recommended for certain polar solvents or extreme steam conditions beyond their limits, making proper material selection essential.
