VT90BK31 is a 90 shore A black FKM Type GLT compound engineered for anti explosive decompression performance in high pressure and low temperature environments. This material passes NORSOK M-710 and NACE TM0297 testing, making it well suited for O-rings and gaskets used in oil and gas applications such as downhole tools, valves, and pressure control systems. Its high durometer improves extrusion resistance while maintaining flexibility at lower temperatures, along with excellent chemical resistance to fuels, oils, and aggressive media. With a service temperature range of -40°C to 225°C, VT90BK31 meets ASTM D2000 M3HK914 requirements and can be compared to other AED-resistant GLT FKM compounds when evaluating equivalent sealing materials.

 

FKM, commonly referred to as Viton®, is a high performance fluoroelastomer widely used in O-rings and gaskets where resistance to heat, chemicals, and fuels is critical. GLT-type FKM materials are specifically formulated to improve low temperature flexibility, while AED-resistant formulations are designed to withstand rapid gas decompression without cracking or failure. These materials are commonly used in oil and gas, aerospace, and chemical processing industries where high pressure, thermal cycling, and harsh chemical exposure are present. While highly versatile, FKM materials are generally not recommended for hot water, steam, or certain polar solvents, making proper material selection essential.
