VT90BK51 is a 90 shore A black FKM Type XLT compound engineered for extreme environments where both low temperature flexibility and resistance to explosive decompression are critical. This material is designed to meet NACE TM0297, NORSOK M-710, and ISO 23936-2 requirements, making it ideal for oil and gas applications such as downhole tools, valves, and high pressure sealing systems using O-rings and gaskets. It delivers excellent chemical resistance across hydrocarbons and aggressive media while maintaining sealing integrity in a service temperature range of -48°C to 225°C. VT90BK51 can be compared to Parker VG109-90 and other high performance AED-resistant FKM materials when evaluating equivalent compounds for demanding sealing applications.

 

FKM, commonly referred to as Viton®, is a high performance fluoroelastomer widely used in O-rings and gaskets where resistance to fuels, oils, chemicals, and elevated temperatures is required. XLT and ULT variants are specifically formulated to extend low temperature performance beyond standard FKM while maintaining strong compression set resistance and durability. These materials are commonly used in oil and gas, aerospace, and chemical processing industries, particularly in applications involving rapid gas decompression, high pressure, and harsh chemical exposure. While highly versatile, FKM materials are generally not recommended for hot water, steam, or certain polar solvents, making proper material selection essential for long-term sealing reliability.
