In industrial systems, exposure to furfural can affect O-rings, rubber seals, gaskets, and plastic components, making material compatibility an important consideration to prevent swelling or degradation. Although relatively low in toxicity, contact may cause skin and respiratory irritation. Proper storage, careful handling, and appropriate PPE are recommended.
