CL172-70 Datasheet

Parker, CL172-70 NEO, 70A, Black, Internally Lubed

Parker’s CL172-70 is a 70 Shore A black Neoprene (Chloroprene, CR) compound formulated for general-purpose sealing applications that require balanced oil resistance and strong environmental durability. With a service temperature range of -35°F to 225°F, it performs reliably in contact with paraffin-based mineral oils with low DPI, silicone oils and greases, water and water-based fluids at lower temperatures, refrigerants, ammonia, and carbon dioxide. Compared to nitrile, this compound offers improved resistance to ozone, weathering, and aging, supporting longer service life in outdoor, refrigeration, and industrial environments. Its internally lubricated formulation helps reduce installation friction and supports consistent sealing performance in static and moderate dynamic applications.

CL172-70 meets ASTM D2000 M2BC710 requirements and is commonly used where dependable environmental resistance and moderate oil compatibility are required. It has limited compatibility with naphthenic mineral oils such as IRM 902 and IRM 903 and with glycol-based brake fluids. This compound is not recommended for aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated hydrocarbons, or polar solvents such as ketones, esters, and ethers. Canyon Components offers equivalent chloroprene materials that match or exceed the performance of Parker CL172-70 for environmentally exposed and refrigerant sealing applications.
