VP104-85 Datasheet

Parker VP104-85 is an 85 shore A black FKM compound specifically formulated for enhanced resistance to aggressive bases and alkaline environments where standard fluorocarbon materials may degrade. This material provides reliable performance in O-rings and gaskets exposed to oils, greases, alcohols, hot water, and caustic solutions, making it suitable for chemical processing, cleaning systems, and industrial fluid handling applications. It also offers good resistance to ozone and weathering, supporting long-term durability in challenging environments, with a service temperature range of approximately 10°F to 400°F. Parker VP104-85 can be compared to other specialty base-resistant FKM compounds when evaluating equivalent materials for alkaline or mixed chemical exposure.

 

FKM, commonly referred to as Viton®, is a high performance fluoroelastomer widely used in O-rings and gaskets where chemical resistance and elevated temperature stability are required. While standard FKM compounds excel in hydrocarbons and fuels, specialty formulations like base-resistant grades are engineered to improve compatibility with alkaline media, alcohols, and certain water-based environments. These materials are commonly used in chemical processing, industrial cleaning, and fluid systems where exposure to bases is frequent. As with all FKM materials, they are generally not recommended for certain aromatic or chlorinated solvents or extreme low temperature applications, making proper material selection critical for performance.
