Parker’s KA453-80 is an 80 Shore A black HNBR compound engineered for low swell performance and resistance to explosive decompression and rapid gas decompression (AED RGD) in demanding oil and gas environments. Qualified to ASTM D2000 M4DH817, it maintains sealing integrity across a service temperature range of approximately -25°F to 300°F while delivering controlled compression set and strong mechanical stability. The hydrogenated nitrile formulation provides improved resistance to oils, gases, and aggressive fluids, along with dependable low-temperature flexibility verified by a TR-10 value of -23°C or colder. Its balanced hardness and elongation characteristics support extrusion resistance and long-term durability under pressure cycling.

 

KA453-80 is commonly used in valves, wellhead equipment, packers, and pressure-containing components where low swell and RGD resistance are critical design requirements. The compound is suited for applications involving high-pressure gas exposure and repeated decompression events that challenge conventional elastomers.
