Parker V1238-95 is a 95 shore A black FKM compound engineered for extreme sealing conditions where both extrusion resistance and explosive decompression performance are critical. This high durometer material is well suited for O-rings and gaskets used in high pressure oil and gas systems, offering excellent resistance to petroleum-based oils, aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, and aggressive industrial fluids. It is specifically designed to withstand rapid gas decompression without cracking while maintaining structural integrity under tight clearances and heavy loads. With a service temperature range of approximately -15°F to 400°F, V1238-95 can be compared to extrusion-resistant and AED-resistant FKM compounds when evaluating equivalent high performance sealing materials.

 

FKM, commonly referred to as Viton®, is a high performance fluoroelastomer widely used in O-rings and gaskets where resistance to fuels, oils, and elevated temperatures is essential. High hardness FKM grades like 95A are selected for applications requiring superior extrusion resistance, especially in high pressure environments. Specialized formulations designed for explosive decompression resistance are commonly used in oil and gas, chemical processing, and industrial systems where rapid pressure changes occur. While highly versatile, FKM materials are generally not recommended for hot water, steam, or certain polar solvents, making proper material selection essential for long-term sealing performance.
