High performance materials include perfluoroelastomers (FFKM) such as Kalrez®, Canrez®, and Chemraz®, which are known for exceptional chemical resistance and high temperature capability. These materials are commonly used in semiconductor manufacturing, chemical processing plants, pharmaceutical equipment, and aerospace applications where standard elastomers may degrade quickly. FFKM O-rings are particularly valuable in environments involving aggressive acids, solvents, plasma exposure, or high purity processes.

Other commonly used elastomers include Viton® FKM, EPDM, silicone (VMQ), fluorosilicone (FVMQ), NBR (nitrile), polyurethane, and neoprene. Each of these rubber materials offers unique performance characteristics. For example, EPDM is widely used for water and steam sealing, NBR performs well in oil and fuel environments, and silicone provides excellent flexibility across extreme temperature ranges. Custom rubber parts can be manufactured using processes such as injection molding, extrusion, micro-extrusion, compression molding, and over-molding. These processes allow engineers to create unique shapes including custom gaskets, square rings, X-rings, U-cups, V-rings, grommets, backup rings, and molded sealing assemblies. Custom molded elastomer components are often used in specialized equipment where sealing performance must be carefully engineered.
