Limitations of Polyurethane Seals & O-Rings for Oil and Gas
- Long-term exposure to extreme heat and aggressive sour gas conditions may require specialized oilfield elastomers instead of polyurethane
- Low temperature flexibility may be more limited than specialty low temperature elastomers in arctic oilfield environments
- Dynamic sealing systems with severe pressure cycling may require backup rings or specialized sealing geometries
