Limitations of Extruded Polyurethane Profiles, Seals & Custom Parts
- Standard polyurethane materials generally have lower maximum temperature resistance than Silicone, FKM, FFKM, or PTFE materials
- Long-term exposure to steam and high temperature moisture may require hydrolysis resistant polyurethane grades
- Low temperature flexibility may be more limited than Silicone or specialty low temperature elastomers
- Outdoor UV exposure and weathering may reduce service life unless weather resistant polyurethane compounds are selected
- Very high speed or aggressive dynamic sealing systems may require specialized profile geometry and hardness optimization
