Limitations of Custom Polyurethane Parts, Seals & Industrial Components
- Standard polyurethane materials generally have lower high temperature resistance than FKM, FFKM, or Silicone elastomers
- Polyurethane materials may experience hydrolysis in prolonged hot water or steam environments unless hydrolysis resistant grades are used
- Low temperature flexibility may be more limited than Silicone or specialty low temperature elastomers
- UV exposure and outdoor weathering can reduce service life unless specialized weather resistant polyurethane formulations are selected
- Very high speed rotary applications may require alternative materials or specialized roller balancing and surface treatments
