Limitations of Cast Polyurethane Parts, Seals & Industrial Components
- Cast polyurethane generally has lower high temperature resistance than FKM, FFKM, Silicone, or PTFE based materials
- Hot water, steam, and humid high temperature environments may require hydrolysis resistant polyurethane grades
- Low temperature flexibility may be more limited than Silicone or specialty low temperature elastomers
- Outdoor UV exposure and weathering may reduce service life unless weather resistant grades are selected
- Dry-running applications may require lubrication, surface finish review, or alternative low-friction materials
- Very high speed rollers may require precision balancing, tighter tolerances, and carefully selected polyurethane hardness
